Dracozine - part 1
I opened the door after a long walk home, and went to my mum's room to see her. She was sitting on the bed, reading a book.
"Hey-a" I said, "how was work?"
"It was OK," she replied, "How was uni?"
"Meh, cant complain."
"We got curry for dinner tonight."
"OK then, I'm gonna go to my room, I'll see you later."
"Yeah, OK then."
I left her room and walked to mine, unzipping my laptop bag and pulling out my Acer as I did. I went to my desk plugged in the AC and connected the laptop to the 22 inch LCD monitor and the 5.1 speaker system. My setup complete, I started up the laptop and went to the internet. Visited facebook to see if any of my
I spent the majority of the flight to London watching shows on my Acer. I keep a lot of TV series, like South Park, the IT Crowd and Hellsing on a portable hard drive that goes wherever the Acer goes, so that I'm never bored. I tried to watch Hellsing for a while, but couldn't really get into it, I was too distracted by this whole deal with Achilleos. Who was he? How did he find out about me? What did he want to do? I was so caught up in my thoughts that I didn't know when Garrow woke up. He looked around a bit and saw me, and smiled.
"So that's why you brought the laptop." He said, "Guess you knew it would be a long flight."
"No" I replied
About an hour later, the bus pulled up outside a compound of some sort, with tall brick walls. The bus entered the complex through an iron mesh fence, and parked outside the front of one of the buildings inside. The doors opened and everyone on the bus got out. I stepped off the bus and looked around. All of the buildings were made of the same brick as the perimeter wall, and were tall, about five storeys each. Suddenly, one of the doors in the building in front of us opened, and Penelope from the theatre walked out to meet us.
"Hey everyone, I'm here to get you settled into the complex. All the units here have four bedrooms, so you'll have
I woke up and it was morning. I opened my eyes slowly, and I was confused. This was not my room; I didn't recognise the furniture or the view outside the window in front of me. Then I remembered everything that had happened yesterday. I looked at my hand to see if everything that happened last night was not a dream. It was covered in silver and gray scales, and my fingers ended in onyx claws.
"I did do it." I thought to myself, "I made myself a dragon."
At that point, I was feeling pretty disoriented. It's hard to explain, but it was like my arms were in front of me and behind me at the same time. I moved my "other arm" to look and saw it w
We walked down the long staircase, BlueScale and Rosethorn at the front, me at the back, and went to the courtyard.
"Brrr, I'm freezing!" I was shivering, "I forgot how cold England can be."
"You used to be here?" Rosethorn asked.
"Yeah, I used to live in Swindon. I moved to Australia ten years ago."
"Lucky you."
"Yeah," I was still shivering from the cold of an English spring morning. "Lucky me."
She was quiet as we walked over to this part of the courtyard outside the canteen that had tables and chairs out the front. We sat down, and I tried to fit my wings and tail so that I could lean back. I settled for havi
I walked back to building B, glad that the sun had warmed things up a bit. I went up the stairs and back to 7G. As I entered the apartment, I saw Rosethorn and BlueScale sitting at the table, talking. I grabbed a seat and sat down.
"Anyone checked up on Grym?" I asked, "How is he?"
BlueScale was about to answer when I heard a familiar voice behind me say, "Never felt better."
I turned around to see a tall black dragon standing in the doorway. He had white horns that tapered inwards to a razor sharp point, and the scales down the front of his bare chest were a dark shade of grey. The tail that came out of the shorts he was wearing ended with
I woke up really early that morning, the sun was barely over the rooftops of the buildings outside. I got up, and tried to walk over to the bathroom, but tripped up over my own tail and sprawled out on the ground.
"Right, dragon." I thought to myself as I picked myself up. "Gotta remember, I'm a dragon now."
And, as it turned out, dragons still get BO, I reeked really bad from all the flying I had been doing last night. So I went to the bathroom, turned on the shower and hopped in. It was pretty cramped in there, I don't think the guys who made it thought it out well, the shower head only came up to the middle of my neck. All I had been gi
After lunch down at the canteen, we decided to take a walk around the complex, to see if there was anything going on. As we approached the entertainment area, we saw that there was a huge crowd gathered around the front door. There were dragons and humans all over the place, talking excitedly and laughing.
I noticed there were more dragons around than last night, I was able to count about twenty of them. Grym had been right, now would be the time when a lot of the humans would be taking their Dracozine. At this rate, everyone in the complex would probably be dragons within a few days.
"Whatss's all thisss?" Grym asked
I was running through a dark forest. The trees were close together, every now and then I would trip on a uncovered root on the ground. I was being hunted, I didn't know what was chasing, but I was scared of being caught. My sides burned with exertion as I ran, my breath was ragged in my chest.
I stumbled onto a clearing, overgrown with tall grass and weeds. I had to stop, I was too tired to continue running. I stood there for a while, heaving for air, trying to catch my breath, when I heard a noise in the bushes behind me. I turned around, eyes darting in all directions, trying to find the source of the sound. As I took a cautious step forw
"BlueScale, wait!" Rosethorn called as she got up and followed after him, leaving me on the couch and Grym at the table.
"Why did you do that?" I said to him, "He's probably scared enough as it is!"
He looked up at me, his face still showing his fear. "They went too deep." He told me, "They went too deep, and they dug up sssomething..." he looked away with a sigh, "...sssomething bad."
"What are you talking about?" I asked, concerned, "What did they dig up?"
"I... don't know." Grym replied, shaking his head, "I jussst don't know."
I held my hand on his shoulder, "Don't worry Grym. They'll help you."
"I hope they can." He replied. He sta
